To set up, please follow these steps:

  2. Search Smarter in the Alexa app skill search
  3. Select the “Smarter iKettle 3.0” to open the skill
  4. Select “Enable”
  5. The app will now prompt you to link your Smarter account
  6. Please login with your details
  7. Alexa will search for the devices connected in your Smarter app

You can now see all the devices managed in your Smart home!

With the skill, you control your kettle with the name you gave it in the Smarter app with Alexa.

If you called the kettle ‘kettle’, you do this:

Commands:

Alexa, turn the kettle on
Alexa, set the kettle temperature to 50 degrees (watch the slider move in the app when this happens, or cooling start if you’ve lowered the temp further than the current temperature, etc)
Alexa, turn the kettle off
Alexa put the kettle on
Alexa, turn on the kettle
Alexa, what is the temperature of kettle?
Alexa, what is the kettle temperature?

If you are having trouble with Alexa finding your iKettle try enabling the skill through amazons website and make sure you are logging in with your Smarter account details after selecting enable.

I contacted support and they are aware it’s not working and are working on it. I have been a iKettle user since the first version and this is disgraceful. The main reason most people buy these is to be able to use them with Alexa etc. THIS NEEDS SORTING OUT

I am a new user who has ordered an iKettle SOLEY because of the Alexa integration. The lack of the Alexa skill is very disappointing, and whilst I accept these things happen, I would want to know .....

    a) how long has the problem existed ? (I guess that at the time of writing, this may be over a week)

    b) how long is it going to take to get the problem fixed ?

If this is not going to be fixed soon, I may have to cancel the order and look elsewhere

As far as I am aware it’s been going on for some time (more than a month)and when I complained there is no time frame for fixing. I have been very happy with Smarter for many years but I will be changing to a different brand from now on. My advice would be to cancel and go fir a different one .

The iKettle app has not been available in the Alexa skills store since 14th November 2020. They are aware of this and I am assured they are 'working on it'.

Siri still works through your iPhone or Google still works for Android. Though I must admin I am a little disappointed.

I have just bought an iKettle and have installed it, the Alexa Skill is available within the Alexa App and it all seems to work as advertised, so I am guessing those who commented to say it was not working back in November are now ok again :)

Alexa still not working - been a few weeks and thought it might have been sorted by now, came here looking for answers and can see others have had the same issue......the whole point of this kettle is for it to work with Alexa

That's strange, it's still working for me on my Alexa, I just asked her to "Boil the kettle" and this shows up on the Show 5. ( I did it twice, hence it's already at high temp as it has just boiled :) )

Thanks for the feedback - have tried removing the ikettle, deleting the smart skill and readding everything but still no luck - it's been working for years but it seems to have just stopped - app works fine though, which I think is strange - didn't uninstall/reinstall app - no idea if that has anything to do with it.

The other annoying this is that if the service does stop working, there is no API to use it at home without relying on the smarter skill app....all very frustrating.

[edit] just noticed 212, thought that's a bit high since water boils at 100 - but alas, you must be in the US where it is literally one of 2 countries left in the world not officially using metric (UK uses a mix of both imperial/metric just because we can!)

    [edit]

Solved the issue - I had two entries for 'kettle' in the discovered devices, one a temperature and the other the 'switch' - i only removed the switch, but i assume that some update the on/off command is now part of the temperature device - after removing that and then searching for devices it found the temperature with the on/off command part of that device.

So here is my problem with this company. They always find excuses for everything. I am trying much as I can to support them. You need to stay away on their products. Always something is wrong. Now the last issue is that Alexa skill doesnt appear anymore even if you search it. Of course no one helps to fix my problem. Again stay away on them.

So the Alexa skill is there, and I can link it to my Smarters account, however Alexa does not discover the kettle. Any ideas?
